Provo High Class of 1991: Brenda Beardall

I began Taekwondo 2000. I began competing just 2 weeks into my training at the Utah State Tournament. As a white belt I was competing against blue belts and winning. I was fighting and defeating International Black Belts 3 months later. As a green belt, I fought the 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist, and lost by only half a point. Had the scoring been as it is today I would have won by three points. Now a 2004 National Taekwondo Team Member, I have trained with many Grand Masters, Masters, and Olympians at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I trained with the 2000 / 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, Steven Lopez and the U.S. Olympic Coach, Jean Lopez in Houston, Texas, as well as Michael Parr, co-founder of World Taekwondo Institute.

I have earned several State, National and International Titles. Most notably, I competed in the U.S. National Team Trials in October 2003 where I became the 1^st person from Utah to make the AAU U.S. National Taekwondo Team. In August 2002, after training only 2 years, I represented Utah in the USTU National Team Trials, a first in the sport of Taekwondo. In 2004, I competed in Korea at the Korean Open, as well as fulfilling National Team Member Duties in Maryland. I have completed the training and am a Certified Instructor for the Protection System, a key-like device that can be used as a weapon for self protection. In December of 2004, I purchased Elite Academy of Taekwondo and runs the school in Orem, Utah. In 2005, I created the Elite Foundation for Empowering Life, a non-profit organization, created to transform lives through the instruction of Taekwondo, and opening this opportunity to many that otherwise would not be able to participate. On April 8, 2006, I achieved her 4^th Degree, becoming a Master Instructor.

Besides Taekwondo, I enjoy many other activities, such as training and riding horses, dancing, writing poetry, drawing, painting, photography, and water sports Motto Cross. I have competed and won many awards in dance, horse-back riding, and poetry. I also enjoy going to concerts, as well as composing and playing music that is currently in a national competition. I have also worked as a model and actor in Movies and Television. National magazines such as Glamour and Parade Magazines have used my modeling photographs. Currently I sell Mary Kay Cosmetics. Coming from a 15-year background as a dancer, model, and actor, I started Taekwondo at age 27. I am now a 4^th Dan Kukkiwon now certified black belt and teach at my martial arts school Elite Academy of Taekwondo in Orem, UT. I now own Elite of Taekwondo is now the central focus of my life and my goal is to win an Olympic Gold Medal. I am the only Taekwondo National Team member from Utah. I was inducted into the Martial arts Hall of Fame as Martial Arts Master Competitor of the Year 2006 and Martial Arts Hall of Fame International School of The Year 2007, 11 out of 76 inductee’s are from the Martial Arts Hall of Fame There was only 76 Inductee, One of my strong points is living the integrity and honor, integral to the martial arts.

I am now enrolled at Provo College in a medical assisting program. I have also been married and currently I am divorced.
